Jaspar Institute, Kraainem (Brussels)

For decades, the Henri Jaspar Institute in Kraainem, East of Brussels, was used as a children shelter home. The Royal Foundation owned home was being neglected and Ghelamco Group bought the property near the 4,000 ha Sonian Forest in 2009.

Ghelamco Group intends converting the facility into a high quality luxurious home for the elderly. The 35 apartments aim at senior citizens who still enjoy a high degree of independence and who want quick access to medical services if required. The Henri Jaspar Institute provides them with an ideal environment, as it is located in a beautiful park in Brussels' largest green belt. Construction works are set to begin late in 2010 or early in 2011.
